Reduce Greenhouse Gases Through Electricity Use at UBD..SAVE ELECTRICITY!!!

On 14th September 2009, our BEACA's group are given task to make report on use of electrcity at UBD. We asked to work with partner and allocation are given every pairs. My allocation of area is Faculty Of Business, Economics and Policy Studies(FBEPS) building with my partner, Haji Mohd Noor Irwan bin Osman(Relax and Cool person). Our plan were searching any area or place that use more electricity and we took some of pictures to prove the evidence. Then, we discuss about our experienced.

Do you know, what is electricity?

Electricity is the flow of electrical power or charge. It is both a basic part of nature and one of our most widely used forms of energy.

Electricity is actually a secondary energy source, also referred to as an energy carrier. That means that we get electricity from the conversion of other sources of energy, such as coal, nuclear, or solar energy. These are called primary sources. The energy sources we use to make electricity can be renewable or non-renewable, but electricity itself is neither renewable or nonrenewable.

Effective energy management programmes would save Brunei millions

"Wednesday, April 8, 2009 -- Brunei Darussalam has the potential to cut its energy costs by 30 per cent with the implementation of effective energy management programmes that would save the government some 20.4 million dollars every year in electricity bills, according to the Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Energy Division under the Prime Minister's Office.

Hj. Ismail bin POKPS Dato Paduka Hj. Hashim said that Brunei's electricity consumption per capita is amongst the highest in the region and is in the range similar to that of far more industrialised nations like Japan and Singapore."

Brunei Darussalam is ranked as the third highest consumer in Asia of electricity per capita after Japan and Singapore, according to the APEC on energy supply and demand outlook..

From my exprience,

At Fbeps building,we saw some corridors, the lights were switch on. So our suggestion to switch off the lights because the area not so dark in the morning.

Saving electricity doesn't just save money, it also saves the planet.
when you plug something into the wall, it seems clean enough -- you don't see or smell any pollution, like you do with your car. But the pollution is there -- it just happens at the power plant. Most electricity is generated by burning coal and running nuclear power plants. Every time you turn on the lights, you create a little pollution.

All Plugs still Switch On

Make sure, when nobody inside the class, we must switch off the current. Not only pollution will occur but also will occur fire.Notice or warning was already stick on the wall ~ notice to remind to switch off the lights when not in use. Probably, some students or lecturer maybe not bother about that notice. We must be alert !!!

Reduce usage of electricity also reduce carbon dioxide emission to safeguard the environment.More people, especially students, need to understand why should we throw away something that costs more even though it may cost us less. Because the country will lose, the people and the future generation will lose. So, education is important to make sure people are aware of it and practise it. Government agencies, like the electrical services department, should start monitoring and advising companies in saving energy.

Some suggestion solutions to reduce wastage of electricity.

  1. Switch on lights only when you need.
  2. The aircorn can be switched off when the room gets sufficiently cool.
  3. Save energy through replacing incandescent bulbs.
In terms of economic benefits, save electricity can save uses of energy efficiency.Brunei Darussalam is fortunate that the country has a lot of energy available in the years to come.Majority of the energy used at the moment is fossil fuel, a non-renewable energy, which is being depleted.

Saving electricity doesn't just save money, it also saves the planet.
